Results from the May 15 election show that Josephine County voters rejected a proposed four-year levy to help fund the criminal justice system. Fallout from the levy’s failure has already begun in county government.

The freshly unveiled “Gateway Project,” some two-dozen artfully rendered garden gates celebrating the “Gateway to the Oregon Caves,” debuted Friday evening, May 11, during Illinois River Valley Arts Council’s quarterly carnival of creativity in Downtown Cave Junction. A development/management proposal for city-owned acreage off S.
