Oregon State Police are investigating the cause of a three-alarm fire that destroyed a Downtown Cave Junction bar early Monday morning, Nov. 19.
“Mopping up” a 43-year career in fire service, Illinois Valley Fire District Chief Harry Rich announced his plan to retire in March 2013. Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) responded to a house fire in the 1400 block Dick George Road Thursday afternoon, Dec. 22.
No injuries were reported following a structure fire on Draper Valley Road Saturday morning, Dec. 3. Although the residents escaped injury, the home is a total loss, according to Illinois Valley Fire District.
Illinois Valley Fire District will host a day-long Fire Prevention Fair on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Jubilee Park in Cave Junction. Emergency preparedness information and activities will be featured, in addition to an all-you-can-eat pancake fund-raising breakfast for the Firefighters’ Association beginning at 7 a.m.
Illinois Valley Fire District (IVFD) and Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) each have launched recruitment efforts to add volunteers to their respective forces.

A Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputy sustained minor injuries after colliding nearly head-on with a tree in the 20000 block of Redwood Hwy. Tuesday afternoon, June 28. The accident occurred as the officer was en route to a medical call in Kerby.
A three-alarm call went out from Downtown Cave Junction Tuesday afternoon, June 21. On the first day of summer and the hottest day of the year so far, it’s thought workers on the roof may have ignited a small fire in the attic at Cave Junction’s sole grocery store.

Family safe and recovering after blaze which caused extensive damage to a Thompson Creek Road residence.
Illinois Valley Fire District responded Monday night, March 14 to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Rockydale Road.
The cause of the accident, reported around 8:45 p.m., has yet to be determined.
It appears there was only one occupant in the gold-colored Ford pickup truck. The accident victim was transported by American Medical Response to XXXXxxxx. The occupant’s name and extent of his injuries are not known at this time.
